The physical structure of men is such that their nutritional requirements and calorie intake is much higher than that of women. However with the sedentary lifestyle that most of us lead maintaining a healthy diet and monitoring our calorie intake is necessary.
Golden rule to any diet, cut down on fatty foods. Too much fat especially saturated fat increases cholesterol, thus increasing the risk of heart diseases. Obesity and being overweight are the other outcomes of eating a fat rich diet.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals that are rich sources of fiber. Eat lean meat and stick to low fat diary products.
Restrict your sugar consumption on foods such as cakes, syrups, biscuits, aerated drinks, jams and sugary toppings. Instead drink fresh fruit juices and besides making excellent desserts, fruits are much healthier.
Cut down your salt consumption. Whenever possible add salt to taste after you serve yourself.
Alcohol is high on calories. Cut down your alcohol consumption and stick to it!
Drink at least eight glasses of water a day. This helps in clearing your system, keeping you fresh and hydrated all through the day.
Decide on a healthy diet and stick to it and you will reap the benefits of doing this even in your later years.
